Mahabharata

 “Following eight things do not destroy the ekadasi: 

1. water, 
2. roots, 
3. fruits, 
4. milk, 
5. ghee, 
6. desire of a brahmana, 
7. the order of a spiritual master and 
8. medicine do not wane one`s fast.”
